Back in October, it was my honor, along with Commissioner Rich, to join with Mr. Trae Zipperer, the founder of the non-profit group ‘By Memorial Day,’ to kickoff an effort to clean Veterans’ headstones in cemeteries around the county.

Respecting and caring for our Veterans should include the proper care and maintenance of their cemetery plots.

We have solicited volunteers to help and the response has been amazing.

There have already been more than sixty requests to participate in future cleaning events. We are incredibly touched by the overwhelming interest from residents.

I have been advised that there are approximately 150 cemeteries in Hunterdon county and with the help of our Veterans Services Officer, Rich Booth, we are organizing the next cleaning event and will be in contact with our volunteers soon.
