At a recent meeting, the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the creation of guidelines for the 2025 Hunterdon County Municipal Law Enforcement Equipment Grant Program.

“The FY25 Budget introduced on April 1st, contained funding to assist local municipal police departments with obtaining critical equipment to carry out their important jobs of protecting members of the public” Stated Commissioner and Public Safety Liaison Zachary T. Rich, after the meeting.
Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred W. Brown applauded theBoard on their commitment to ensuring Public Safety maintains a top priority within the County. “The Office of the Sheriff and the Board of Commissioners work hand in hand to ensure that strategic Public Safety needs are met. This grant program is the next initiative in the ‘New Era of Partnership’ between my office, the Board, Police agencies and the municipalities to keep Hunterdon County residents safe.”

The 2025 County Budget, introduced earlier this year, allocates $500,000 to the grant program. Significantly, $100,000 of these funds will be reserved for municipalities without dedicated police forces, ensuring that all corners of Hunterdon County benefit from this initiative.

Commissioner Director John Lanza shared, “This grant program reflects our highest priority as public servants in ensuring the safety and security of every Hunterdon County resident. This program represents more than just a financial investment – it’s another step forward in the CommissionerBoard’s “New Era of Partnership” with our municipalities.
