Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred Brown recently welcomed first responders for the distribution of over 100 handcrafted teddy bears, generously donated by the Hunterdon County Quilting Guild. These thoughtful gifts are intended to provide comfort and reassurance to children experiencing trauma or distress during emergency situations throughout the county.
Sheriff Brown expressed his deep appreciation for the Quilting Guild’s contribution, stating, “We are incredibly thankful to the ladies of the Hunterdon County Quilting Guild for their thoughtful donation. Their compassion and generosity make a meaningful difference – and these teddy bears will provide much comfort to children in distressing situations.”
The Hunterdon County Quilting Guild, which meets at the Readington Reformed Church, once again showcased their ongoing commitment to support community well-being through their skillful craftsmanship and care. The quilting guild previously was recognized by the Board of Commissioners for their donation of heart shaped pillows to women who were battling breast cancer.
Commissioner Susan J. Soloway joined Sheriff Brown for the distribution and shared, “These teddy bears will become quiet heroes in the hands of our first responders, helping to provide children comfort when they need it most.”
The Sheriff’s Office and County Commissioners will be working together to distribute the teddy bears to local police departments, fire services, EMS teams, and crisis response personnel across Hunterdon County.
Sheriff Brown said in closing, “It’s great to see the kindness and generosity of our community in action. These stuffed bears are more than toys – they are tools for comfort, and I am proud to share them with our frontline heroes.”
