At the December 20th Board of County Commissioner Meeting, Board Director John E. Lanza and his colleagues recognized Ryan Kurtz of Boy Scouts of America Troop 186, for attaining the designation of “Eagle Scout,"; Scouting’s highest award.

Ryan Kurtz has been an active scout demonstrating outstanding leadership and has contributed many service hours during his years of scouting.

Ryan's Eagle Scout project included the Lachenmayr Trail in the Township of Readington, and creating safe pathways in the trail, along with constructing a new bridge to cross over on the Holland Brook.

Ryan also created a new map of the Lachenmayr Trail, with the trails marked out in blue and orange and can be found at the kiosks at the Heath Road and Groendyke Road entrances, along with the kiosk in the middle of the trail. The completion of his project helped enhance the safety and beauty of the Lachenmayr Trail for County residents, and others who are looking for trails to use in Hunterdon County.

The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners extends to Ryan Kurtz individually, collectively, and with great pride, their sincere congratulations for achieving this highest of scouting awards which symbolizes the American ideal of good citizenship.
