Recently Brayden Fahey, Director of the Department of Public Safety and the County’s OEM Coordinator, provided an update to The Board of Commissioners on the progress of a major upgrade to Hunterdon County’s Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and records management systems. The new CAD platform, developed in collaboration with CSI, represents a $2.3 million investment in strengthening and modernizing emergency response capabilities across the county.
“Our emergency response teams deserve the best tools available to protect our communities,” said Commissioner Zach Rich, who also serves as the liaison to the Department of Public Safety. “This investment modernizes our dispatch and recordkeeping systems while saving taxpayer dollars.
Many of the enhancements we’re implementing came directly from feedback from our own first responders, which makes this upgrade not just smarter, but also tailored to the real-time needs of our personnel.”
Mr. Fahey highlighted key system features and noted that final system enhancements, many of which were recommended by frontline staff, are being implemented across the full system upgrade.
The renovated system will provide unified, countywide records management services for Police, Fire, and EMS, improving operational efficiency. The shared services model is also expected to deliver cost savings, particularly for local fire departments.
The new CAD system is scheduled for final implementation and deployment on October 1st, in alignment with the end-of-year launch timeline.
This project reflects the Commissioner Board’s ongoing commitment to investing in public safety, which includes deploying the latest innovative technology and acquiring the resources needed to keep county residents safe. As part of this effort, the Board also included $500,000 in this year’s county budget to help local municipalities and law enforcement entities through a new grant program.
