Hunterdon Harmonizers Perform at Hunterdon County Commissioner Meeting

The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners Meeting had a very musical proclamation on Tuesday night, recognizing the retirement of Hunterdon Harmonizer Director Don Reckenbeil.

Mr. Reckenbeil has been the volunteer director of the Hunterdon Harmonizers since 1998 and has led the Harmonizers in over 350 performances and over 1200 rehearsals during his directorship and participated in hundreds of community events.

The most memorable being the collaboration with the Flemington Chief of Police to hold a Service of Remembrance immediately following the September 11, 2001 tragedy.

Don has a special place in his heart for veterans and those in our community who may “need a lift,” and crafted the Hunterdon Harmonizers’ repertoire to provide inspiration and hope. Don enabled the Harmonizers to share this love at innumerable benefits and community events.

Excelling as a teacher and educator, leading free community singing lessons, known as “Ready-Set-Sing,” and both judging and coaching at numerous youth harmony events; Don's musical arrangement skills have been recognized by his peers and his works are performed widely by other A Capella choruses and form the core of the Hunterdon Harmonizers’ repertoire.

The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners thanks Don Reckenbeil for his years of musical contributions to the residents of Hunterdon County and wishes him a very happy and healthy retirement.
